FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Kelechi Osemele, a Jets offensive lineman, will have season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder on Friday, even though the team has not authorized the procedure.

Osemele, 30, made the decision after four weeks of dispute with team management over the injury, during which he has not played or practiced. Osemele said he was injured on Aug. 5 during training camp, and at the time he was able to continue playing. He exacerbated the injury on Sept. 22 while making a tackle against the New England Patriots.
