Tennessee Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter will stand trial September 1 for misdemeanor assault and battery stemming from a July incident.
According to a statement released by the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney in Virginia Beach, per Adam Vingan of the Tennessean, Hunter's felony charges have been reduced following additional interviews with witnesses.
“Based upon subsequent interviews with witnesses, it is the Commonwealth’s position that the evidence better supports the charge of assault and battery,” the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney said in the statement. "We cannot comment further because the case is pending trial on Tuesday.
