FALL RIVER, Mass. — The jury in the murder trial of Aaron Hernandez began a seventh day of deliberations on Wednesday on whether the former National Football League player is guilty of murdering an acquaintance, the first of two murder trials he will face this year.
Jurors in Fall River, Massachusetts, have so far spent about 35 hours weighing whether Hernandez is guilty of murdering semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd in June 2013. Hernandez, a 25-year-old former tight-end for the New England Patriots, is accused of first- and second-degree murder in Lloyd’s death, as well as firearms charges.
