John Dorsey: We always wanted to keep Justin Houston in the organization

The Chiefs have made their long-term agreement with linebacker Justin Houston official.

As reported earlier on Wednesday, the team and Houston beat the deadline to sign a multi-year deal by a few hours when they agreed to a six-year, $101 million contract. The deal comes with guarantees of $52.5 million and multiple reports say that Houston got $32.5 million in fully guaranteed money upon signing.

“Today we were able to reach an agreement with Justin and his agent, Joel Segal, to keep him here in Kansas City for the foreseeable future,” Chiefs General Manager John Dorsey said in a statement.
