Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow denied the idea the contract drama surrounding wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase played a role in Sunday's 16-10 loss to the New England Patriots.
"No, I wouldn't say that's accurate," Burrow told reporters when asked whether the offense was adversely impacted by Chase "holding in" and missing a significant portion of training camp while making it clear he wanted a new deal.
Leading up to Week 1, Chase's status was even in doubt and his availability was considered a "game-time decision" by the weekend. While he did suit up, he was held in check for the most part by New England, finishing with six catches for 62 yards.
