New York Jets safety Jamal Adams posted a statement Monday night amid nationwide protests against police brutality and racial injustice.
"Stop killing us," Adams wrote. "This isn't just a political issue, this is about the morality of our nation."
George Floyd, a black man, was killed May 25 while in Minneapolis Police Department custody. Video of officer Derek Chauvin pinning Floyd to the ground with his knee on the 46-year-old's neck and back for nearly nine minutes while Floyd repeated said he was unable to breathe has spread widely.
Chauvin, who was one of four officers responding to an alleged forgery at the time, was arrested Friday and faces charges of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
