Jags fourth-rounder James Sample has surgery for fractured arm

Another member of the Jaguars rookie class has suffered an injury that required surgery early in their professional career.

The good news is that safety James Sample, a fourth-round selection, isn’t expected to be out nearly as long as first-round pick Dante Fowler, who tore his ACL at the rookie minicamp last month. John Oehser of the Jaguars website passes along word that Sample had surgery on Friday morning after fracturing his right arm during practice on Thursday.

Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida-Times Union adds that Sample suffered the “freak injury” while he was trying to knock the ball away from an offensive player at the end of a play during the workout.
