When the Eagles traded cornerback Brandon Boykin to the Steelers earlier this month, it left an opening at nickel cornerback.
JaCorey Shepherd has often found himself filling that role since Boykin’s departure, which makes his departure from Sunday’s practice on a cart a potentially bad development for the Eagles.
According to multiple reporters at the practice, Shepherd, a sixth-round pick this year, went down after a collision with running back Darren Sproles during a practice at Lincoln Financial Field. Trainers came onto the field to take a look at Shepherd’s right leg and he was eventually loaded onto a cart for a trip to the locker room for further evaluation.
