Irving Fryar Convicted in Mortgage Scam: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction

Following a three-week trial, former NFL wide receiver Irving Fryar and his mother, Allene McGhee, were found guilty Friday for the part they played in a mortgage scam, according to the Associated Press (via ABCNews.com).

The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jan Hefler reported Fryar and his mother used the mortgage scheme to strip seven banks of $1.2 million in 2009.

"Authorities said Fryar and McGhee provided false wage information on her loan applications and claimed she earned thousands of dollars a month as an event coordinator for Fryar's church," the Associated Press wrote.
