HOUSTON — When Super Bowl LI kicks off Sunday in Houston it will be two years, 3 days and about 20 hours since the Patriots' Malcolm Butler made one of the most famous plays, and became one of the unlikeliest heroes, in Super Bowl history.
Entering Super Bowl XLIX, Butler was an undrafted rookie free agent cornerback out of West Alabama who had played in just 11 games and totaled 15 tackles – 9 of them coming in two games – and four passes defensed.
It was his stunning interception at the goal line with 20 seconds to play that gave those Patriots their rings.
