When Von Miller and the Denver Broncos raised the Lombardi Trophy after defeating the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, not a single soul in Denver was surprised. The Broncos faithful had watched this team the entire season and despite the glaringly obvious offensive struggles, they knew what they were capable of on defense.

Most sports analysts, pundits and NFL fans, on the other hand, were shocked at the outcome. That the Broncos could win the Super Bowl wasn’t implausible, but to win by 14 and hold the league’s most potent offense to just 10 points?
