NFL Week 18 - The Houston Texans have officially fired head coach Lovie Smith, according to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Under Smith, Houston finished their 2022 season with a 3-13-1 record and came into Week 18 ranking 31st in total DVOA. Houston's win over the Indianapolis Colts Sunday locks the Texans into the second-overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft.
According to a statement from Texans team owner Cal McNair regarding Smith's firing, general manager Nick Caserio will remain with the team and will assist in hiring the next head coach.
