Hall of Fame defensive lineman Bobby Bell isn’t taking it easy in retirement. At age 74, he spent this semester finishing up his final classes to get his college degree.
Bell, who hadn’t graduated when the Chiefs took him out of the University of Minnesota in the second round of the 1963 NFL draft, was back at Minnesota getting his diploma this week after earning nine credit hours this semester. Bell said he promised his late father that he’d graduate from college, and it has bugged him for some time that he never fulfilled that promise.
