Riding high at 6-3 atop the NFC South, the Falcons extended general manager Thomas Dimitroff for three years, through 2019, effectively tying him to head coach Dan Quinn for the remainder of their respective contracts.
The extension comes just a few years after some of Dimitroff's football operations control was split to assistant general manager Scott Pioli and Quinn. Atlanta has missed the playoffs the past three seasons, and some had considered Dimitroff to be on the hot seat if things didn't improve.
In nine years, Dimitroff's squads have fought their way to an 80-57 record, eighth-best for a club during that time span.
