New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin, who guided the franchise to two Super Bowl championships and three NFC East division titles, will not be retained as the team's head coach, a source informed of the decision told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport on Monday.
Coughlin leaves after the Giants failed to reach the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year in the wake of their third consecutive losing season. New York's last playoff appearance came in 2011 when Coughlin led the team to its second Super Bowl title in four years.
