Roelisberger, of course, came back to play — and play very well — last season, completing 64.4 percent of his throws for more than 4,251 yards and 28 touchdowns to 14 interceptions. There was no retirement talk this offseason, but Roethlisberger is now 36 years old and the Steelers have to begin to prepare for when he will not be the man under center.
Going into the draft, selecting a future starting quarterback was a premium need for the Steelers. Under GM Kevin Colbert, the Steelers seldom have forced picks to draft a need. Colbert is a master at letting the draft come to him, and because of that, the Steelers consistently have solid drafts.
