Some sad news to report on Hall of Fame weekend: Frank Gifford (Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 1977) passed away suddenly on Sunday at the age of 84, reportedly from natural causes.
Gifford was a versatile player for the New York Giants from 1952-1964, retiring with the fifth-most touchdowns (78) in NFL history. He rushed for 34 scores, caught 43 more as a standout receiver and also played defense with a pick-six early in his career. He helped the Giants to an NFL championship in 1956, the same season he was named MVP by the UPI and Newspaper Enterprise Association.
