Four police officers punished for falsely detaining Nate Allen

Raiders safety Nate Allen was detained by police for several hours in Fort Myers, Florida in February after he was accused of lewd behavior in a vehicle and Allen, who was exonerated of the allegation, said afterward that he planned to sue the police department for the incident.

The Fort Myers Police Department has investigated what happened and, via the Southwest Florida News-Press, four officers have been disciplined for their actions after a 16-year-old girl said she saw Allen masturbating in his car. Since the case involved a 16-year-old, it should have been handled as a potential misdemeanor but it was instead pursued as a felony.
