Former Vikings center Mick Tingelhoff praised for his longevity

Following Charles Haley was a tough assignment for anyone.

But while former Vikings center Mick Tingelhoff didn’t leave the game with a fistful of rings, he made his own mark on the game with his excellence and longevity.

Tingelhoff started every game for the Vikings for 17 years, blocking for a quarterback in Fran Tarkenton who often made him seal off the same guy multiple times because of his scrambling.

Tarkenton presented Tingelhoff, and broke down in tears as he helped his teammate and “best friend” to the stage.

Tingelhoff didn’t speak for himself, but watching Tarkenton’s emotional speech made it clear how much he meant to him, as well as to the Vikings for so many years.
