When Geno Smith suffered a broken jaw during an altercation with linebacker IK Enemkpali in the New York Jets locker room Tuesday, which will sideline him for six to 10 weeks, Jared Lorenzen saw an opportunity.

The former quarterback, known as "Hefty Lefty," spent four seasons with the New York Giants, earning a ring as Eli Manning's backup in Super Bowl XLII.

He has been out of the league since 2008, but after a handful of seasons in and out of indoor-league play, Lorenzen thinks he's ready.
