We're more than a month into the college football season, but it still feels like it is barely underway. Only 74 FBS teams have faced at least one other FBS opponent thus far, and only a total of 89 games have been played so far between them. There have been about two dozen cancellations or postponements of games in the same span due to coronavirus challenges, and we're still several weeks away from the Big Ten, Pac-12, and other conferences jumping back into the mix after recently announcing their return to competition.
I shared my concerns in the FEI preseason projection column on how a disjointed college football season might wreak havoc on the ratings algorithm.
