EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — After a crushing opening-season loss when they squandered a late lead and lost in the final seconds, the last thing the Giants needed Sunday was a second shocking defeat in the closing moments of a game.
Leading for most of the contest, the Giants took a 10-point lead into the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game with the Atlanta Falcons. But a Falcons rally brought a noticeable unease to the soldout crowd at MetLife Stadium.
With the Giants’ lead down to 3 points, the Giants offense bungled a chance to keep the Falcons off the field and punted back to Atlanta with a little more than three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
