Vernon Davis alluded Monday to how the physical toll from his 14-year NFL career factored into his decision to retire.
Explaining his choice in more depth Wednesday onRedskins Nation(h/t NBC Sports Washington'sEthan Cadeaux), the former Washington Redskins tight end cited concussions as one specific concern.
"Just the simple wear and tear over time. Especially those concussions. They can take a toll on you in the long haul. It's just better safe than sorry. But if it wasn't for that throughout the course of time, then I probably would have played for the next five years, at least.
