Former Jets and Chiefs running back Joe McKnight was shot and killed in an apparent road rage incident in Louisiana on Thursday, authorities confirmed to NFL.com. McKnight was 28 years old.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said deputies received a phone call at approximately 2:43 p.m. local time about a shooting in Terrytown, Louisiana. McKnight, suffering from a gunshot wound, was lying on the ground near his car when police arrived. After deputies performed CPR, McKnight was declared dead at the scene, according to Newell.
Ronald Gasser, 54, was at the scene and told deputies he shot McKnight, Newell said.
