Doctors ‘optimistic’ Daniel Fells won’t lose foot to MRSA

Doctors attending to New York Giants tight end Daniel Fells as he deals with a MRSA infection are feeling more confident that the effectiveness of the most recent treatments may mean he won’t need his foot amputated, a potentially dire outcome feared as a possibility as recently as a few days ago to thwart the spread of the infection and potentially save his life.

ESPN reported the recent update to Fells’ condition Tuesday, with sources confirming an earlier NFL.com report that the tight end has undergone five procedures since contracting the harmful staph infection two weeks ago.
