The injuries Andrew Luck is suffering from are unusual for an athlete and are more consistent with car crash victims, according to an Indianapolis doctor.
Luck is expected to miss 2 to 6 weeks with a lacerated kidney and partially torn abdominal muscle, and Dr. Lewis Jacobson, chief of trauma at St. Vincent Trauma Center in Indianapolis, says this is unusual for an athletic injury.
“We most commonly see this kind of injury associated with motor vehicle crashes or motorbike crashes,” Jacobson said, via the Indianapolis Star’s Stephen Holder. “We do see about a half-dozen per year related to contact sports.
