On multiple occasions in the past week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media has reported that Missourti defensive end Shane Ray doesn’t need surgery on his foot. Most recently, Rapoport reported that Dr. Robert Anderson has advised Ray that an orthotic will resolve the issue.
Another school of thought exists, based on independent evaluations of Ray’s foot. And that school of thought is that Ray will indeed need surgery.
Ultimately, the question of whether a team is comfortable that Ray doesn’t need surgery hinges on the opinions of its own doctors.
