Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson took the field before Sunday’s game against the Browns wearing cleats stylized with police caution tape.
Jackson released a statement saying he hopes to “be part of a solution and start dialogue about the senseless killings of both citizens and police.” The gesture isn’t meant to be a protest against law enforcement, he added.
“We stand in support of both DeSean and the law enforcement community,” the team said in a statement.
Jackson was one of four Washington players to raise their fists during the national anthem before last week’s game against the Giants.
