The clear reasoning behind Broncos outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware's trip to injured reserve is now known.
Broncos coach Gary Kubiak revealed the 34-year-old Ware has a ruptured disc in his back, and surgery is scheduled for Friday. The league's second active sacks leader was officially placed on IR Wednesday after missing practice with the persisting back injury.
Ware could become an interesting personnel decision for general manager John Elway soon, as he's been regressing the past few seasons while battling injuries. Approaching 35 and scheduled to be a free agent at season's end, it's possible Ware has played his last game in a Broncos uniform.
