In the first meet of his second chance at a track career, former Giants running back David Wilson looked like a football player.
Wilson, who retired from football because of a neck condition, finished ninth in the triple jump at the Adidas Grand Prix yesterday, failing to live up to the numbers he posted in college in the event.
He was hoping to reach around 55 feet, after recent training jumps in the 51-foot range. But his best effort Saturday was a little over 47 feet, which disappointed him. The combination of rust and a right hamstring injury, he said, kept him from showing the strides he’s made since training to become a track guy for the first time since college.
