Darrel Young: Picking up RGIII’s option good for our mindset

The Redskins announced Monday that they have exercised their option on quarterback Robert Griffin III’s contract for the 2016 season, ending speculation about how they’d handle the potential $16 million payout for a player whose performance was disappointing last year.

On Tuesday, Griffin repeated his previous comments about not worrying about the option and just focusing on his on-field work for the coming year. For fullback Darrel Young, though, the move was important as it showed the team was doing more than paying lip service to the notion that they want Griffin to be their starting quarterback.
