Josh Brent, the Cowboys defensive lineman who was found guilty of intoxication manslaughter in the 2012 death of teammate Jerry Brown, has retired.
The Cowboys announced today that Brent has been placed on the reserve/retired list.
This is the second time that Brent has retired. He also announced his retirement in 2013, while he was in the midst of facing charges in Brown’s death. Brent later came out of retirement and returned to the field after serving an NFL-mandated suspension.
Brent missed the end of 2012 after the crash that killed Brown, missed all of 2013 after his first retirement and played in only one game last year because of a suspension followed by a calf injury.
