Deep at wide receiver, the Colts parted ways with one of their reserves Friday, releasing returner Josh Cribbs, the club said.
The 31-year-old Cribbs handled kickoffs and punts down the stretch for the Colts in 2014, averaging 32.0 yards on 19 kickoffs and 6.6 yards on 19 punts. He fumbled three times, losing one in the AFC title game at New England.
For nearly than a decade, Cribbs was one of the NFL’s top returners, bringing back eight kickoffs and three punts for touchdowns as a stalwart on a series of largely forgettable Cleveland teams.
