LSU tackle La’El Collins knows that his draft stock has been seriously damaged by a murder investigation in which he’s not a suspect, but for which police want to question him. So with Collins likely to be drafted much lower than his talent would suggest or not at all, he wants to enter the supplemental draft instead.
It’s a reasonable idea, given the circumstances. But that doesn’t mean the NFL will go along with it.
“No player may elect to bypass a Draft for which he is eligible to apply for selection in a Supplemental Draft,” Article 6, Section 2(c) of the Collective Bargaining Agreement declares.
