The Browns placed safety Jordan Poyer on injured reserve Tuesday after confirming he suffered a lacerated kidney last weekend against the Titans.
Poyer, 25, started all six games and was third on the team with 36 tackles. Poyer could return after eight weeks if the team chooses to do so. In 48 career games, Poyer has 124 tackles, six passes defensed and two interceptions.
Taking Poyer's spot on the active roster will be defensive back Ed Reynolds, who was promoted from the practice squad. A 2014 fifth-round selection of the Eagles, the former Stanford product had six appearances in 2015, amassing 21 tackles, one pass defensed and one interception.
