San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey told ESPN's Nick Wagoner that he is "definitely close" to being fully recovered from his season-ending knee injury and would have been able to return to the field had the Niners made it to the playoffs.
McCaffrey added that he will continue his rehab and is expected to be good to go for organized team practice activity, per Wagoner.
The 28-year-old missed the final five games of the season after suffering a PCL injury in his right knee during the 49ers' Week 13 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
