Bears third-year S Deiondre’ Hall has been suspended without pay for the first game of the 2018 regular season for violating the NFL policy and program for substances of abuse.

The 2016 fourth-round draft choice out of Northern Iowa is eligible to participate in all preseason practices and games, but he will not be eligible to return to the Bears’ active roster until Monday, Sept. 10 following the season opener Sunday night in Green Bay against the Packers.

Hall’s spot on the 53-man roster is far from guaranteed, though. He played briefly in just two games last season after spending the first 12 games on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.
