That was surprising considering veteran free agent Quintin Demps was lost for the season with a fractured left arm after playing just three games. The interception-starved Bears targeted the 32-year-old Demps a year ago in part because of his 15 picks in the previous four seasons. He was also considered an ideal complement and mentor to rookie Eddie Jackson, the fourth-round pick out of Alabama.
Jackson wound up third on the team with 70 tackles and recovered a team-best three fumbles, one of which he returned 75 yards for a TD in a 17-3 Week Seven victory over the Carolina Panthers.
