The Chargers were involved in a lot of trade chatter involving the No. 2 pick in the weeks leading up to the draft, but Marcus Mariota is a Titan and Philip Rivers appears set to remain in San Diego for the coming season.
San Diego did make a trade, though. They moved up from No. 17 to No. 15 in a trade with the 49ers and selected Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon. It’s the first trade to take place during the first round of this year’s draft.
Gordon will jump into a backfield that lost Ryan Mathews to the Eagles as a free agent this offseason and will probably move right to the top of a depth chart that also includes Branden Oliver, Donald Brown and Danny Woodhead.
