Bucs trade back into second round, take Ali Marpet at No. 61

AP

The Buccaneers have doubled down on offensive line additions in the second round.

They took tackle Donovan Smith with the 34th pick of the round and then traded back up to the 61st pick in order to select Hofstra offensive lineman Ali Marpet. The Buccaneers made the deal to move up with the Colts, who will also send the 128th pick of the draft to Tampa in exchange for the 65th and 109th selections.

Marpet played his college ball at Hobart, which isn’t known as a factory for future professional football players. That meant he had almost no profile heading into the pre-draft season, but quickly gained one through good performances at the Senior Bowl and combine.
