The Broncos added a new player to the roster shortly before opening up their preseason schedule.
The team announced on Friday that they have claimed punter Spencer Lanning off of waivers from the Buccaneers. Lanning was not in Tampa long, joining the team in June after being dropped by the Browns in the wake of Cleveland’s trade for former 49ers punter Andy Lee.
He was waived after the Buccaneers signed Karl Schmitz earlier this week. Schmitz was available because he’d recently been waived by, wait for it, the Broncos.
Lanning was the punter for the Browns over the last two seasons and averaged a net of 38.
