Brian Hoyer “getting back on the bike” in Bill O’Brien’s offense

When there’s a quarterback competition between a player new to the team and one that was with the club the previous year, the latter player tends to have an advantage when it comes to knowing the offense.

That’s true in Houston this year, but Ryan Mallett’s edge on Brian Hoyer is not as pronounced as it might be in other locations. Hoyer played under O’Brien in New England when O’Brien ran the Patriots Offense and said on Monday that it’s been a matter of refreshing his mind rather than learning from scratch.
