Former NFL linebacker Brandon Magee went to spring training on a lark. It’s apparently become something more than that.
Magee debuted last night for the Lowell Spinners, the Single-A affiliate to the Boston Red Sox.
Playing left field in a 6-3 loss to the Hudson Valley Renegades, Magee was 0-2 at the plate, with a walk, a strikeout, and a run scored.
While at Red Sox camp in March, Magee said he’s still fully committed to pursuing a football career. But with the offseason programs for 32 franchises come and gone and Magee still unemployed, Magee possibly is realizing that baseball is ready to be very very good to him.
