There are things that Texans coach Bill O’Brien knows about quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett.
Both players have “the quality of leadership” and “the quality of intelligence,” but it is the things that O’Brien doesn’t know that has kept the competition for the starting job in Houston an “even battle” to this point in the summer. Mallett will start on Saturday against the Broncos and O’Brien indicated that he could learn enough new things to make a decision about who will be on the field for the season opener.
“If I had the body of knowledge right now, I would probably make the decision,” O’Brien said, via the Texans website.
