This is the time of the year when most NFL teams are drinking their own Kool-Aid.
Practices over the offseason against air or teammates unable to hit back tend to make players look good, which leads to a lot of talk about progress being made in leaps and bounds heading into next season. A high percentage of those claims wind up losing their luster before training camp is over and another chunk fall by the wayside during preseason games, which makes it hard to take any of the big talk as anything more than filler at a slow point in the schedule.
