Patriots coach Bill Belichick recently penned a letter to president-elect Donald Trump, which Trump read at a rally in New Hampshire days before his stunning victory.

Belichick opened his Wednesday news conference by commenting on the letter, via yahoo:

"Our friendship goes back many years,” Belichick said. “I think anyone who has spent more than five minutes with me knows I’m not a political person. The comments are not politically motivated. It’s friendship and loyalty to Donald. A couple weeks ago we had Secretary of State [John] Kerry in our locker room.
