Bears won’t pick up fifth-year option on Shea McClellin

AP

Teams have until May 3 to declare their intentions for their 2012 first-round picks, and the Bears decided to go ahead and do their paperwork before they get busy tomorrow.

According to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune, Bears General Manager Ryan Pace said he had informed Shea McLellin they would not be picking up his fifth-year option.

The Bears haven’t found a fit for him yet, bouncing him from defensive end to outside linebacker. He’s going to play inside linebacker in coordinator Vic Fangio’s 3-4 scheme, and may have to compete for a starting job there.
