Apparently the Bears saw enough in the tryouts to make it worth clearing a couple of spots on the 90-man roster.
The team announced today that they had signed safety Sherrod Martin and running back Daniel Thomas to one-year contracts, after working them out this week at minicamp.
Martin played for coach John Fox in Carolina, and was in Jacksonville last year. Like Thomas, the former Miami back, he’s a former second-rounder who never quite lived up to expectations in his first stop.
To make room for them on the roster, they waived kicker Jeremiah Detmer, quarterback Pat Devlin & tight end Jacob Maxwell.
