So far, the work Bears tight end Martellus Bennett has been skipping is voluntary.
That changes next week when they have their mandatory minicamp, but no one there knows whether it will change Bennett’s plans.
“Don’t know that,” Bears coach John Fox said, via Jeff Dickerson of ESPNChicago.com. “Again, it’s different implications on mandatory minicamp. But we’ll wait and see.”
Bennett would be subject to $72,920 worth of fines if he skips all three days of the minicamp. If he continued his protest through training camp, it goes to $30,000 a day.
