The Bears haven’t had tight end Martellus Bennett with them at offseason workouts and it appears Bennett is looking for a new deal from the team, which led to reports that the team was open to trading him during the draft.
Bennett remains a member of the team, but the Bears still felt they needed another body at the position. The team announced Tuesday that they have been awarded tight end Chris Pantale off waivers after making a claim on him following his departure from the Jets.
Pantale played five games for the Jets last season and spent time on both the practice squad and active roster after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College in 2013.
